Hi
I just came across your site. I feel like I grew up with the switchgear, my father was the boiler man there for twenty five years. My sister and I have many happy memories of the Christmas parties and the famous sleigh. My father was Royston Harding from Tredegar he is on the far right of the entry titled ( Robert Campbell SWS Maintenance Dept. on left with two unknown faces). Thanks for the memory

I spent my childhood living on the Springfield Estate in the !950's - mid 60's and remember us kids fording the river (when low) to get through the back fence on Sundays when things were quiet and raiding the skips of waste looking for ball-bearings and bits of metal tubing or anything we could use on construction projects - we never considered it stealing and did the same in rail wagons that used to sit in sidings at Pentwynmawr.
